Infant Stimulation

Today I am going to talk about the infant stimulation techniques we followed with our baby. I did not know much about Doman or flash card at that time. We made sure that she got a lot of tummy time and placed her in her musical playmat everyday for a couple of hours. She was fascinated by the lights and this helped with her cognitive development. My mom would talk to her daily and she used to respond back from a very early age (around 6 weeks). She started smiling 2 weeks after her birth which is apparently very rare. I read to her whenever I could. She would listen intently and watch me turn the pages. We also took her out almost everyday and I used to name everything that we saw along the street. She is a cat napper and slept very less during the day but slept through the night from the very beginning. We gave her oil massage every other day before her bath and used to love it. We did show her some black and white patterns (but that was only once in a while). She rolled over from her back to tummy when she turned 3 months. I guess it was mainly due to the tummy time exercises we gave her. I wish I did more of the doman style black and white cards and math dots with her from the very begining...but again no regrets.
Its only after she turned 4 months that I started her on Doman flash cards and other early learning dvds. I will talk in detail about the early education  method I have been following since then in my next blog….so stay tuned.

What's next

Please stay tuned for my next post on early education basics. What I did with my baby  in the early days.

The right start - Before Conception

I am a mom to a lovely little baby. Well, blogging ......I wouldn't say that I always wanted to be a blogger. However, I guess in today’s world there is nothing better than blogging to reach out to the crowd. It’s also a wonderful little diary that u can always update without worrying abt when the pages will be over.
I am an early education enthusiast and I totally believe that it all starts way before that momentous occasion of the sperm meeting the egg. Today I am planning to write about what all I did before we decided to create our little baby.

3 MONTHS BEFORE TTC

1. Started off by detoxing by body.
2. Went off the birth control pill
3. Started eating healthy - 4 servings of veges and 3 servings of fruits daily.
4. Eliminated caffeine (however, had 1 cup of green tea daily).
5. Started taking a pregnancy multivitamin.
6. Started taking a pharmaceutical grade fish oil capsules.
7. Started taking phyllium husk for fibre.
8. Started drinking Macca (An Incan superfood).
9. Started drinking wheatgrass.
10. Started taking zinc, CoQ tablets , selenium tablets
11. Eliminated alcohol.
12. Hubby took a men's multivitamin, Grape seed capsules and fish oil tablets, he reduced his alcohol and caffeine intake.
13. Started using a Basal Body Thermometer along with Ovulation sticks to better predict my ovulation and also pin point the ovulation day.

AFTER 3 MONTHS OF LIFESTYLE CHANGE

1. Started TTCing
2. Fell pregnant 2 months later which was followed by a miscarriage :(

AFTER THE MISSCARRIAGE

1. Continued the same regimen of tracking my cycle and ovulation.
2. Continued with all the supplements.
3. Did a progesterone test after ovulation to check the progesterone levels.
4. Started TTC again.
5. FELL PREGNANT AFTER 1 CYCLE AFTER THE MISSCARRIAGE.

PREGNANCY

1. Continued all the supplements and also started taking iron pills and B vitamins (since I am a vegetarian)
2. Monitored my HCG levels every other day till 6 weeks.
3. Had 2 major bleeding episodes in the first 3 months but the baby stayed on strong.
4. Ate 4 servings of veges and 3 servings of fruit daily.
5. Ate boiled egge every other day.
6. Stopped CoQ tablets, Macca and wheatgrass after 12 weeks.
7. Ate seafood twice a week for omega3.
8. Started eating a handful of nuts daily around 20 weeks.
9. Made sure I did a lot of reading and listening to music. (though I was not very thorough with the listening to music part)
10. I was doing a lot of thinking as well since I was trying to complete my research thesis @ that point.
11. Made sure I ate regular meals spread throughout the day.

They say that an egg takes about 4 months to form. I totally believed that it’s important that we both bring the best of the goods to start with and that it will give a head start for the baby that's yet to be formed.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL AND WHATEVER I WRITE IN MY BLOG IS BASED ON WHAT I DID FOR MYSELF AND I WOULD REQUEST EVERYONE TO NOT BLINDLY FOLLOW WHATEVER I HAVE WRITTEN. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CONSULT UR DOCTOR BEFORE CONSUMING ANY SUPPLIMENTS ESPECIALLY WHEN UR PREGNANT. EVERYONE'S BODY IS DIFFERENT AND WHAT WORKED FOR ME MIGHT NOT WORK FOR YOU.
